Keynote Speaker Bio: "Dr Lembit Rägo, is the Secretary-General of the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS) since 2016. From 1983-1999 he was a Professor of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology at Tartu University, Estonia. He was the founder and first Director-General of the Estonian regulator, State Agency of Medicines (1991-1999). In 1999 he joined the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva. In 2001 he founded WHO Prequalification of Medicines Programme that since then has been instrumental in providing high quality affordable medicines for developing countries. In 2013 he was appointed as the Head of the newly formed WHO unit of Regulation of Medicines and other Health Technologies.
He has published numerous scientific articles, books and book chapters, including on several topics related to medicines regulation and safety and is a frequent speaker in different international fora.
