Dr. Kasenga is a graduate of Tumaini University, Kilimanjaro Christian Medical College, Moshi, Tanzania and Umea University, Sweden.
He obtained a Master’s degree in Public Health and a PhD in Public Health and Epidemiology. He has a background in Clinical Medicine and has taken courses at higher diploma levels in Public Health from University of Transkei (UNITRA), Republic of South Africa, and African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) in Nairobi, Kenya.
Kasenga has worked in different places in and outside Malawi, and has held various positions, such as Licensed Medical Officer, HIV/AIDS Programme Officer, HIV/AIDS resource person in the International Department of Diakonhjemmet College, Oslo, Norway.
He also managed an Integrated HIV/AIDS Prevention Programme for over 5 years. Besides working as Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC), Malawi Adventist University, Malamulo Campus, Dr. Kasenga complements the overall vision of putting Malawi Adventist University on a world map as a 'World Class University'.
He brings with him his expertise in being a mentor for both local and international students, a peer reviewer for several scientific papers, research with over 8 publications, edited several text books on HIV/AIDS related issues including communicable and non-communicable diseases.
Dr. Kasenga has special interest on HIV/AIDS related issues focusing on Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT). Further, he promotes the spirit of openness, transparency and accountability for both faculty and staff.
