Dr Kumar has completed his PhD in Medical Microbiology from the University of Delhi, India.
He then joined as a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, USA where he conducted research on the mechanisms of viral entry and development of antiviral therapeutic strategies against herpesviruses.
He also worked as senior Research Associate in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Loyola University Chicago, USA and conducted research and developed safe research models for the SARS-CoV2.
He is currently working as a Principal Scientist E-II in the Division of Antiviral Research at Institute of Advanced Virology, which is a premier institution dedicated for studies in virology in India. Dr Kumar has authored and co-authored more than 50 research/review articles/book chapters in some of the leading and flagship journals focussing specifically on advanced virological studies. He has also been serving as an expert reviewer and associate editor for several reputed journals.
