Professor G.R.A Okogun is a biomedical Technologist, Project Management consultant, teacher, researcher and Professor of Medical Entomology and Parasitology (Medical Technology) with special interest in Entomological Technics and Management in the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo state, Nigeria Where he currently serves as Deputy Provost of the College of Medical Sciences. Professor Okogun is a consultant to the WHO and some other international organizations on vector borne diseases.
He has at various times been a scholar of the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Bill and MelSlida Gates foundation, the Tropical Disease Research arm of WHO and India Medical Research Centre.
He has been principal investigator to several international projects including WHO/FGN Yellow fever vectors survey project in 12 state of Nigeria. He has benefited from several international courses/symposia including Biology of Disease Vectors Course (Brazil), International conference on malaria (from Lavaran to Genomics) India, International conference on Vector Borne Diseases (2006 vector forum, Beijing, China, Training course on Functional Genomics of Insect Vectors of Human Diseases (AFROVECTGE) Bamako, Mali. Molecular Evolution as driving force in infectious diseases, Colorado, USA and WHO/TDR training course on Bioinformatics tools for comparative Genomics of Disease Vectors SANBI, South Africa to mention but a few.
He is a CDC certified Trainer. He is always willing to share his knowledge. He has supervised over 90 postgraduate students with 15 at the PhD level. He has served as external examiner and represented the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria in several of her professional examinations.
He has over one hundred (100) published research articles in local and international peer review journals with over 50% of these published works in international journals. He is married with children.
