Anthony R Sambol

Anthony Sambol is currently the Assistant Director of the Nebraska Public Health Laboratory (NPHL), located at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and the Coordinator of the NPHL's Special Pathogens & Biosecurity Laboratory sections.

Anthony received both a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Master of Arts degree in Biology from the University of Nebraska. His duties also include that of Laboratory Program Advisor and Bioterrorism Laboratory Coordinator for the NPHL and as such, he is responsible for setting up and establishing the NPHL's testing capability for agents of bioterrorism and is involved in the establishment of a statewide laboratory network to improve the state's public health infrastructure.

Prior to joining the NPHL in the fall of 1999, Anthony was employed in a variety of positions. These included working as a medical technologist in diagnostic virology/chlamydiology and infectious disease serology, as a research scientist for an animal vaccine laboratory, and as a teacher of science courses at local community colleges.
