Dr. Yong Chen is a distinguished Professor of cell biology, pharmacology/pharmaceutics, and nanobiotechology/nanomedicine in the Institute for Advanced Study at Nanchang University. He obtained his B.S. in Biology from Nanchang University, M.S. in Biology from Jinan University, and Ph.D. in Optics from Chinese Academy of Sciences in China. He received postdoctoral training in Microbiology and Immunology from University of Illinois at Chicago and also did research in the Department of Cell Biology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center as a visiting scholar. His research interests include the metabolisms/functions of gangliosides and lipoproteins, drug delivery systems (e.g. cyclodextrins, reconstituted high-density lipoproteins, membrane vesicles, etc.), cell biology (e.g. the structure and functions of cell-bound membrane vesicles and the nucleus), fluorescent probes/sensors, among others. He is the principal investigator of a number of research projects (more than 20 grants) and has published more than 100 scientific research papers. He serves as Editorial Board member or Guest Editor for some international journals.
